Exploring Pathways to UQ: Insights from Today's Information Session

Today, our school had the pleasure of welcoming Ms Macushla Miller from the University of Queensland (UQ) for an informative session about the direct entry opportunities available through UQ College. With our school’s direct entry agreement with UQ, this session provided students with valuable insights into the pathway programs, student life in Brisbane, and the academic support available for those planning to pursue their studies at one of Australia's top universities.

 

Understanding the UQ College Foundation Program

Ms Miller introduced students to the UQ College Foundation Program, which offers two pathways: the Standard Foundation Program (10 months) and the Accelerated Foundation Program (4 months). Both programs are designed to help students meet the entry requirements for their chosen undergraduate degrees while gaining essential academic skills. Upon successful completion, students receive a conditional offer for their desired UQ undergraduate program.

One of the most impressive takeaways from the session was that 92% of students successfully complete the foundation course, demonstrating the program's strong academic support and high success rate.

The session also highlighted the key advantages of UQ College, including:

  2. 　・　Access to UQ’s state-of-the-art learning facilities and dedicated academic support
  3. 　・　Practical learning experiences, including field trips and hands-on activities
  4. 　・　The opportunity to immerse in student life through UQ’s 220+ clubs and societies
  5. 　・　Affordable student transport—just 50 cents per trip, no matter the distance!

 

Life in Brisbane: A Student-Friendly Destination

Beyond academics, Ms Miller painted a vivid picture of student life in Brisbane. As one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities, Brisbane boasts a multicultural community, a pleasant climate with 240 days of sunshine per year, and a safe, welcoming environment for international students. From modern campus facilities to diverse cultural experiences, students can look forward to a dynamic and supportive study environment.
